Hi,

I'm in the same situation as Mike (see msg. 5) regarding an S-40B which I
recently picked up at auction. The rig seems to run OK but needs a lot of
cosmetic cleanup because the interior looks like it has been stored in
someone's garage for the last 40 years - the usual scaly deposits on the
chassis & some rust on the power supply xformer. It also needs an original
speaker (to replace the replacement), a main tuning knob (present one has
chipped edges) & some dial cord (a previous owner restrung with packaging
twine). The band switch is badly in need of cleaning - it took several twists
of the knob to bring in a signal. Surprisingly, the case is in pretty nice
condition & appears only to need some minor paint touchup. I downloaded
operating & service data from the BAMA site & would appreciate any help with
restoring this rig.

Thank a lot,

Jim Mandelik
