Hi. I'd like to thank everyone who has responded so far to my request for
advice. It sounds like I have gotten myself into something more than I
originally thought. For all intents and purposes, I am a total novice at
working on radios. I have a friend locally who has done radio work and we
were planning on working on this radio and one of his together. I've done
some limited work on different electronic projects, but that's it. Wanted a
tube radio primarily to listen to and one that if necessary that I could
work on. If it proves too much, I'll turn to someone else to get the work
done.
The radio was advertised as working and in original condition. I'm going to
review all the suggestions and track down the information that everyone has
suggested. I never imagined this as a short term project. If it takes a
year or 2 that is fine with me.
As an alternative, are there people who work on Hallicrafters who I could
turn to for any updating the radio might potentially need ? I'm not saying
that's the way I'm going to go, but am considering the alternatives.
Thanks again for all the input and keep it coming.
Mike
