Jack,

There were several articles between 1957 and 1963 on building a product
detector for older receivers.  I seem to recall one in a 1963 QST was the
cream of the crop.  I picked up a HQ120 that belonged to the last Chief
Engineer at hammarlund and its added on along with a 100Kcs calibrator.  I
used a Hammarlund HC-10 with a HQ120 I had 30 years ago....the secret is the
receiver must be stable!!

I am looking for a SSB mod for the Hallicrafters S-40A,eg product detector
mod. Can anyone provide a copy of this mod or refer me to a website that has
such a mod? Thanks
