I have also found that Krylon 3514 Stone Gray Satin is an excellent match to
the various SR series xcvrs, SX-117, HT-44, etc of the circa 1960 decade.
The satin finish looks good as the original was not gloss. A light over
spray restores the finish and preserves the original speckle.
If you have a basket case and have to strip to bare aluminum and start over,
"Spray Texture" by Homax, 1610 6th St., Bellingham, WA 98225 tel
1-800-729-9029, works good. Stand back about 3-4 ft and practice first!
I found the texture at the local Ace Hardware. Abt $10/can.
Also, Ace has an order system and will special order the Stone Gray Satin
Krylon paint. Abt $3/can, no charge for special order!
I liked the color and satin finish so much that I have used it on a few
other items in the shack.
