    Yes, it very definitely helps a rcvr to have a matching sytem between it
& the antenna.  I've demonstrated this to myself & several who have bought
SP-600's from me, using a 66ft end fed wire & a simple MFJ tuner made for
xmtg.  Helps on all bands.
    The rcvr antenna coil ckt is set up for a specific impedance for good
energy xfr, and obviously no useful antenna will be a constant impedance all
the time (a dummy load would be a good match, but not much use).  Makes a
very noticeable difference across the BCB where LF to HF end is nearly 3:1.
