It depends on the application. For audio, the "orange
drops" or similar capacitors work better (better
sounding audio, etc.). For r.f. bypassing, the disc
ceramics definitely work better. Therefore, the
advantages depend on the application.
As for prices, Mouser consistantly has the best price
that I find on orange drops (and other parts as well)
and doesn't have a minimum order for US purchases.
