[Hallicrafters] vintage station...

When I was 14, living in Yakima, Washington, my father bought me an
almost new SX-99 ... I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I listened
to the code until I got my speed up to 3 words a minute and an old time
ham gave me my Novice test and I passed (I'm sure the code test was a
gift!). I then earned enough from my paper route to get a Heathkit
DX-20 that I used to get my code speed up to the level of an extra
class.

Anyway, my vintage station consists of the exact same rig....although
not the same exact units. I still use both to have fun working cw on 40
meters, with a few crystals I have for 7040, etc.

I now have a dozen or more Hallicrafters rigs and just keep collecting
them and restoring them...I sell some on the "awful" auction place but
have fun with them first. All I wish for are some Green "Hallicrafters"
decals so I can repaint some of them. I know that isn't likely to
happen.
