Phil, you are an inspiration to us all!

Congrats on the restoration and I'm sure we'll get lots of postings on the SWL list now that you have it up and running.

By the way, I was just sharing a 6-pack of BEAMISH real Irish Stout, the kind they had on tap in the RAF Croughton consolidated club, with some other veterans of that place. I tipped one back for you!

Subject: [Hallicrafters] Muffled audio cleared up

Hello all
Last night I was able to clear up the weak/muffled audio in the SX-71. I
had tested all tubes in a (borrowed) tube tester. However, replacing the
6K6 audio output tube cleared up the audio. It now has very good, clear
audio and PLENTY of it! That tube must have been gassy or sumthin'. Now
I'm doing a thorough burn-in while doing the cabinet etc. Then it will
receive a 'final' RF/IF alignment and put into fulltime service. (It sure
sounds nice)
