[Hallicrafters] Silver faced SX 28s?

OK, I know I am opening a can of worms, playing with a hornets nest, teasing
a ----------well anyway.
I have been cleaning up my workbench. Do it every 7 years or so. At the back
is an FCC model SX-28. Something fell over against it and rubbed the already
bad paint job on the face. When I got it out to access the damage I found
that the paint was actually flaking off in a great big patch. The area where
the paint had been  is BRIGHT CHROME!!!!!!!!!! Took a scraper and very
carefully removed some paint from the other end. More bright chrome.
Now if that don't stir the pot till it stinks nothing will.
