Pat and everyone,
It would be good to let you operate and get the sense of the thing. Your
sons might really get into it also.
Here are the directions:
>From US 101, take Rt 156 to San Juan Bautista but stay on it until it runs
into a the traffic light on the south side of town. This is where Alameda
intersects Rt 156. Turn right at the intersection (away from San Juan
Bautista). You will now be on San Juan Canyon Road (county road G1). After
about 2 blocks there is a brown and white sign that directs you to make a jog
to the left. It indicates that the park is 11 miles away. After the left jog
you will need make a right jog almost immediately to stay on G1. Look for
another brown and white sign that confirms that Fremont Park is ahead on this
road.
The road is paved but windy. In the 11 miles you climb 2000-3000 feet so it
is a pretty interesting road with lots of beautiful views.
Doe Flat camp ground is the first camp ground in the park. It is reserved
for the weekend for GVARC and has room for several camp sites. Enter the gate
and proceed up a short dirt road to where you will see the club's generator
and tent.
Camping is rustic. No flush toilets. We do have water and barbeque grills as
well as a camp fire pit which we may well take advantage of during slow
periods.
73, Frank

Frank,
Filed Day:
My intent would be to come up and visit for the afternoon. I really
want to see what goes on and where.
Are there existing directions that you could forward me? If not I'll manage.
ARES / SVECS Nets:
This is our week to cover the nets for you. We've got it covered.
