Re: Ham Radio Communicators Needed - Fun Event
Los Gatos 48th Annual Children's Christmas and Holiday Parade Communications
Event.
EC's and AEC's Please Forward to your ARES groups!
Amateur Radio Service (ARS) communicators are needed to staff Radio
Communication positions for the 48th Annual Children's Christmas and Holiday
Parade in Down Town Los Gatos on Saturday morning December 4th. This is a
fun & entertaining low stress community service event that will get you home
by early afternoon.
Los Gatos ARES, with your help, provides radio communications in support of
Parade Officials, the Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department, the Los
Gatos Disaster Aid Response Team and the Santa Clara Co Fire Dept.
As the communications expert you will relay messages and event data via
Amateur Radio Service frequencies. Also, due to the large public attendance,
we are often called upon to provide assistance and emergency communications
for the general public. In the past our expert and highly visible
communication capabilities have been the primary means for summoning Public
Safety for such incidents as lost children, traffic incidents and medical
emergencies. All these communications activities are handled through a
typical directed ARS net, with a net control station directing the radio
traffic and acting as the liaison to officials.
This communications event is an opportunity for the experienced operator to
sharpening skills or for the beginner to develop new skills. As a net
participant the primary activity will be working directly with talent
judges, TV producers and public address announcers, by providing
up-to-the-minute information on parade activities. All these positions
insure a great view of the parade and an opportunity to participate in the
fun. Coffee and donuts are provided at the morning briefing meeting.
If you are interested in participating in this event please contact the
following organizers:
