[GVARC] Kenwood TS-520 experience?

At the last club meeting, I mentioned to some of you that I am planning on 
upgrading to General this summer. My brother-in-law (Marv, AA7PU) has a 
Kenwood TS-520 that he is offering to sell to me. I'm considering this as 
my first HF rig. 

Do any of you have this radio or have used it in the past? I see a number 
of good reviews for it at http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/380. I 
appreciate any cautions or recommendations you can make. I don't have a 
budget to get one of those fancy rigs that cost a month's salary.

If you have any other recommendations for what I might get used under $500, 
please let me know too.
