Sadly I must report tthe passing of Jim Maxwell, W6CF. Jim became a silent=
key yesterday at his Redwood Estates home. Both Jim and his wife Trudy,=
KC6NAX, are members of Los Gatos ARES, as well as members of our West=
Valley ARC. And, of course, Jim was our Pacific Division Director.=20
Many of us remember Jim from his excellent presentation at ham club=
meetings. Most recently Jim spoke at the last SVECS breakfast with news=
from the ARRL. His enthusiasm, wit, and candor will be missed.=20

>From R. B. Vallio, W6RGG, VICE DIRECTOR, ARRL PACIFIC DIVISION:
=E2=80=9CIt is with great sadness that I report on the passing of my old=
and good
friend, Jim Maxwell, W6CF. Jim was a charter member of the NCCC and was
"The JUG's" first editor, it having been Jim that came up with the name
and the little brown jug logo. His issues bore the subtitle "Uncorked
Occasionally For The Northern California Contest Club."
I've known Jim for more than 40 years, operated
contests with him, and shared many a good time, too. Jim's wit and
wisdom will be sorely missed at gatherings like Dayton, Friedrichshafen,
Visalia, and ARRL Board meetings; not to mention the
countless clubs at which he spoke while serving as
Vice-Director, and Director, of the ARRL Pacific Division.
He was a good friend, and I'll miss him so very much. I hope he enjoys
getting to meet Samuel F. B. Morse at the big radio gathering in the
sky.
73, Jim. You'll be gone, but not forgotten by your many friends.=E2=80=9D
Bob, W6RGG
