[GVARC] Special Guest MATE Program, this Saturday

Folks:
We are hoping to bring on board to the Marina Getaway BBQ/Ham Radio
Event, and have on exhibit, the Superstar winning Underwater Bot,
MATE-rix which beat all comers in the underwater Robot wars,
recently shown on the Discovery Channel.  A bunch of young kids,
from local schools, and staff and faculty from a great cross
section of Academia around the Monterey Bay, kicked serious butt at
the National underwater Bot competition held in April at Texas A&M,
beating the US Navy team, from NR-1 the nuke sub, and NPS, and
others....It was an incredible show on Discovery with the kids
showing incredible determination under extreme adversity.
When the high power motor controller system inside the Underwater
Bot fried midway through the competition, the kids brought
ingenuity out of the ashes...they invented MANUAL PWM motor
controllers, using tin cans, tin snips, screws, plastic boards, and
thermal insulation (for burned fingers) to control the high
horsepower underwater BOT motors...

We may have an opportunity to partner/mentor with the MATE-MPC
program, by exploring use of familiar RF digital modes such as
Pactor, PSK-31, MFSK-16, and maybe other modes in the Audio domain,
for laboratory wireless robot communications.
