Dear GVARC members,
We are setting up a meeting for Thursday, October 24th at 7PM to meet =
with the City of Morgan Hill to discuss standard operating procedures =
for ham involvement with the city associated with an emergency. The =
location will be announced when it has been established.
Please let me know if you plan to attend. Also let me know if you want =
to be kept informed about this subject, whether you will attend or not. =
I plan to create a distribution list "South County ARES Members" and if =
you attend the meeting or express an interest in the topic I will put =
your name on the DL so that you can receive follow-up messages.
The list below was offered as possible topics we may discuss at the =
meeting. You might all think about these and come prepared with answers =
or ideas or perhaps more things that are worth discussing. I will act =
as secretary for the meeting as well as a participant so we can record =
any decisions or actions for the future. I'll be using the DL I =
establish so please let me know of your future and present interest. I =
know this meeting is related to Morgan Hill, so Gilroy folks may think =
there isn't any reason to attend but I think it would be good to know =
first hand your ideas on this regardless of where you live in south =
county. I know I would like to be aware of what Gilroy's procedures are =
and how I might help in the event the emergency is local to that city.
1. How will hams organize themselves at a time where an emergency =
occurs?
2. How will hams contact the City of Morgan Hill at that time?
3. What will be required to enable hams to participate in helping the =
City
of Morgan Hill?
4. What will be the operating arrangement hams should use the City of =
Morgan
Hill during the emergency period?
5. What qualifications are required to enable a ham to help the City of
Morgan Hill? (e.g., identification, training, knowledge, certification,
level of commitment)
6. What kinds of backup communication will be most needed by the City of
Morgan Hill?
7. How will the City of Morgan Hill organize itself to work with hams?
8. How will this SOP be documented, tested and sustained?
Regards, Frank
