Folks,
In the true amateur (ham) tradition, I have found some case
histories of easy gain antenna construction, for 802.11 wireless
internet networking. Using only about $6.00 of parts, including a
pringles potato chip can, there have been yagi antennas built that
appear to show gains approaching 12db. This allows extreme range
connections to your local 802.11 internet provider.
Look at http://www.oreillynet.com/cs/weblog/view/wlg/448/
or: http://www.netscum.com/~clapp/wireless.html
for examples of working antennas.
Has anyone built any thing like these? Would you like to?
We'll do them at N6IJ and report results....
