Hello Pat;
I have been busy here working with civil defense. Gas started flowing
to the public sunday afternoon on a rationing basis.. ie no more
than $20 at a time. Also with the gas now available the various service
agencys are now able to procced with the dammage assestment, and busnesses
are reopening. FEMA has brought in two MESH units (simalar to MASH units
from the militarty) which are now set up and helping with the medical
situation. The harbor is open for daytime transit so we are now getting much
needed supplys on island such as food and more fuel. The electrical mains
are comming back on line, with the hospital being the first, power being
delivered on Monday, we got our power back last night about 1900 here on
the naval station. please keep in mind that I was not as badly hit here
than the northern and central part of the island, so we were able to
restore quickly. The Red cross and Salvation Army are doing a great job out
here, however the Salvation Army is out of money.
I will keep you posted.
73 and God Bless
Duncan
