[GVARC] Collaborative Opportunity for Ham Radio

Folks,

I discovered two web sites that are education and travel oriented, and to 
which ham radio would be natural adjunct to the activities described.  The 
sites collect regular stories, and communications from a world traveller 
that are read and interacted with by school kids.
The sites and Expedition management are HQ'ed in Santa Cruz and Los Gatos 
Areas.  I contacted one group, whose expedition leader is a ham himself, and 
who enthusiastically received a suggestion to include ham radio 
communications in their program.  This is a real opportunity to apply HF ham 
radio, and possibly Echolink modes to an exciting project.  Check the sites 
out (listed below)  and  brainstorm on how to best join them with amateur 
radio activities.  Maybe we could get a grant proposal to donate an Elecraft 
K-2 to their expedition equipment list....
