Hi all hams!
Join us as a volunteer in Compaq's 18th annual Up & Running race on =
Sunday, April 21, 2002, in Cupertino, California.=20
We need additional ham radio operators with 440 Mhz hand helds and a =
desire to spend 3-4 hours with others around the course as remote eyes =
and ears for our race coordinators, law enforcement officers and our =
emergency medical team. Call me at 408 779-9311 or e-mail me here at =
work or via [email protected] if you'd like to help.
Make that commitment now though! We need you and we need to count on =
you. You won't regret your few hours of service!!

This race is one of the largest corporate-sponsored running events in =
the Bay Area. Last year more than 2,000 runners, walkers, and volunteers =
of all ages came out to compete, help out, or just have fun.=20
As in past years, your participation will mean a big step toward ending =
hunger in our local communities-100 percent of each entry fee will go to =
the Second Harvest Food Bank. And here's something else to be proud =
of-Compaq's Up & Running race offers the largest 10K wheelchair prize =
purse of any race in the Bay Area.=20
A race for everyone
Races featured include the 10K run; 2-mile run or walk; 1-mile kids' =
race (ages 6-12); and a 40-yard Trike & Trot for kids ages 6 and under. =
No one is left out!=20
USA Track & Field Pacific Association's 10K Championship Race
To add to the excitement of the race, this 10K is part of the USA Track =
& Field Pacific Association's Championship race circuit.=20
Official qualifier for seeded and sub seeded positions at San Francisco =
Bay to Breakers race
That's right-there's a new twist this year. This race is a qualifier for =
the San Francisco Bay to Breakers race coming up on May 19, 2002. For =
more information, go to www.baytobreakers.com =
<http://www.baytobreakers.com>.=20
National TV Coverage
This race will be highlighted on 'Running & Racing' Prime Time on =
Outdoor Life Network (OLN). To find show times for 'Running & Racing' =
click here <http://www.runningandracing.com>. Who knows, you might be =
famous!=20
Family fun for all!
The post-race party will be filled with activities such as climbing =
walls, slides, face painters for the kids, food, great music, =
entertainment, and so much fun that you won't want to miss this event.=20
