Mike,
I'm off-&-on working on setting up a working TTY display at our museum. Right now, I only have a Model 15 with some cobbled-together stuff to play prerecorded messages or let people play on the keyboard. I have another couple of 15s & some model 14 reperf machines (that have not been worked on at all yet).
Putting up a station on the air on RTTY with war surplus radios is something I did back in college but I'm not sure how practical it is in the museum environment. The present setup requires some oversight to demonstrate & I'm beginning work on a control box that will make it more self-operated - like, the guest pushes a button & everything comes online & prints a message. Press again & get another message, That kind of thing.
I'm sure a lot can be done if I was into little computer boards like Raspberry Pi but I've not delved into that stuff. Yet.

Hello from the Estrella Warbirds Museum, W6EWM
A big thank you to Christopher, K6FIB, for coming out to the museum and getting us up and running on RTTY. With a barn full of teletype machines, we found one that will play. An ASR 28. With the help of a Dovetron terminal unit and a connection to ITTY we were receiving in no time! A little WD-40 refreshed the ribbon and with a little lubricating, it was printing nicely.
We have several Kleinschmidt teletypes. The TM-11-2234 is missing a motor. The other two, which are grey (Navy units?) have running motors but need work.
We hope to make the Teletype machines a working display at the museum radio room.
