Thanks to K8WXQ, I've found that not all UARTS will accept 1.0 stop bits.
I THOUGHT that setting the number of stop bits to 1.5 only affect the
transmit side and that, for example, a UART receiving 60 wpm would sample
the stop bit 22 ms after the sampling of the last data bit, and then go
into the idle condition. This appears to be how electromechanical
Teletypes work, but apparently not the UART in the AEA PK232. On SOME of
my feeds, I had only been sending 1.0 stop bits. I have changed them all
to 1.5 stop bits (and the new audio files will be generated over the next
few hours).
To simplify streaming to the DSP TU WiFi module (
https://w6iwi.org/rtty/DspTU3/ ), I've taken several approaches which
still maintain compatibility with web browsers. These are:
1. Audio is sent as 8 bit unsigned PCM with a sample rate of 8 ksps. This
eliminates the need for an MP3 or other decoder.
2. I've changed the code that determines which audio file to send (the
latest). Previously, it sent an HTTP redirect to the browser with the URL
for the most recent WAV file. But that requires the HTTP client to
understand a redirect. Now, latest.php finds the latest file and sends it
directly with no redirect.
3. While the audio is available encrypted (https), it is also available as
plaintext (http). This removes the requirement that the web client know
how to do key exchange and decrypt the audio.

As mentioned before, I thought UARTs would accept 1.0 stop bits even when
configured for 1.5 stop bits. I had a nice AI QSO where it was explained
how these UARTs did indeed need 1.5 stop bits. It's at

Please let me know of any issues with the feeds.
THANKS!
