I’d like to get some opinions from the group on a piece I have here.

It’s a Model 28 receive-only page printer mechanism, FAA-tagged from a depot rebuild dated 1982. From what I’ve been told—and it makes sense—these were part of a rotation system where units were swapped out, rebuilt at the depot, and sent back into service. My assumption is this one went through that process late in the game and, for whatever reason, never made it back into active use.

How it ended up with me is a bit of a mystery, but here it is.

Condition-wise, it looks very clean—certainly consistent with a depot job—and I don’t believe it’s been powered since. It still has paper on it and appears complete as a mechanism.

I’m at a bit of a crossroads with it and would appreciate some perspective:

• Part of me says leave it exactly as-is and just preserve it

• Part of me would like to find a stand, power it up, and maybe feed it some of the current RTTY/Internet traffic just for the experience

• And part of me wonders if it really belongs with someone who will take it further than I will

I’m not trying to sell it here—just trying to figure out the right direction before I do anything irreversible.
