Hi Paul!

Yes, I am still in Florida, near 'The Villages', but in an area that has no HOA-control.
I'd probably be willing to drive, if I was able to.  However, I don't see well enough to drive.
Are there shipping companies that don't break stuff?

I just hoped that someone nearby would see my request.

I agree with Nick. Steve, Are you still in Florida? (Sorry if I it was obvious and I missed it).

Would you be able or willing to drive, or use a shipping company?

Get in touch with your local ham radio clubs. There might be a machine or two just sitting forlornly in someone’s garage. Spread the word around that you are looking. I’ve rescued and redistributed probably more than 20 machines so far. Total expense has been less than eBay advertised price for a single machine.

Hi!  I just joined this list, having following a series of
breadcrumbs of other places talking  about teletype machines.

I used to have a model 15 TTY with keyboard that I bought in 1977.
Included was the black metal table for it to sit on.
Also included was a model 14 reperf, and a model 14 TD..

I build the Roger L. Smith ASCII-to-Baudet converter so I could talk
to the them using an ASCII keyboard.  My first ASCII keyboard was a Sanders.
Eventually, I used the Model 15 as a printer for my SWTPC 6800
Computer.  I got a lot of use out of it.
My Model 15 came with a manual dated from 1938, and had the AC
asynchronous motor instead of the DC-governor motor.

A few years later, I bought an ASR33 for my computer.  For me, that
was a huge upgrade.
Of course, since then, I've had several printers.

I don't have most of my teletype machines anymore, and I'd like to
replace them.
The last time I moved, the logistics were bad, and it was impossible
for me to be in two places at once, namely Arizona and Florida.
I was in AZ, my mother was just widowed for the second time, didn't
want to marry a 3rd time, and wanted to move to Florida.
She asked me to be her 'roommate' and we would buy a house together
in Flodida.  Which uis what we've done.
My brother-in-law was feeling helpful, and was going to load most of
my posessions onto a U-Haul truck.
That was for later.  The initial move had us contracting a freight
company, the truck was loading, mostly with mom's stuff, and the
select best of my tools, electronics gear, and various items.

After getting unpacked in Florida, I would receive play-by-play
photos of different stacks of equipment at my old house, did I want
to keep this pile or that pile.  Problem was, my instructions were
not carried out.

My ASR33 went to a recycler.  So did the model  15 TTY, and the model 14 TD.
All I have left is the table for the model 15 TTY, and the model 14
reperf, and I'm looking for the other items.
Logistics are a problem for me:  I don't see well-enough to drive
anywhere, and I don't leave my 92-yo mother alone either.  She's a
bit accident prone.

The only place I seem to ever see these machines advertised is on
eBay, and I don't like to buy heavy, high-priced, items over
ebay.  I've been let-down on other items in the past not being quite
as advertised.

Regards,
Steve Tabler
