Nick,
I am trying to get squelch to work on my M-7000. I tuned on squelch for the video and the printers. Then I turned on the squelch switch. I have to run the level in the low to medium green for it to squelch. The screen squelch works but the 28 continued to print garble between transmissions last week. Yesterday the 28 squelched part of the time but not every time. I figure I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what.
I bought six RTTY terminals from eBay. I found the book on the AEA MPA-RC and have it working. It has a 32 character display and a loop output. I am going to take out the IRL-1000 which I don't use since it is high tones and I will put the AEA in it it's place. The AEA is HIgh tones too but I am anxious to try it on CW.
I got two Kantronics "The Interface" I already had the book and schematic on those, The are meant to be used with a computer. But their loop outputs will work without the computer.
I got a HAL CRI-200 which has an L.E.D. display that actually shows ellipses. I can't find the book, but it works and I got the RS-232 output connected to one of the RCA Jacks. I tested it and it will drive a polar relay. I am going to mount a relay on an electrical box and use it to key a powered loop.
I got a HAL CMR-7800 which will only drive a video monitor and has standard high and low tones. The mark and space lights flicker as they should but the monitor on shows Os, Ts , Vs and Ms. I desperately need a schematic. For example on LTRS it shows Ms or Os. It seems to be losing the first two to four marks in every character which makes me suspicious of the demodulator. It only has a parallel ASCII output with a really weird connector. I think I may have one of those connectors.
I will try to wire it to a printer and see what it prints.
And I got a HAL Spectra-Tune SPT-2. I would like to get it working but I need the book. It is not to be found. The SPT-1 book shows a coaxial power connector. But the power input on the SPT-2 is on a DB-25M. There is also a DB-20F and I have no idea what it is for.. So I must find the correct SPT-2 book.
I ordered some 6-point grounding lugs to ground my equipment. But I still have to drill the hole to get a big piece of shield brain downstairs.
So that is what is going on here. I still read the mail, but unless grounding gets rid of that spur,
I won't be transmitting.
There is no ground terminal on my amp so I will add one. As a matter of fact, I copied everybody for most of the net yesterday.
