Going back to the files - one suggestion that may or may not be helpful; if you can have a voice describing the file before the meat plays. For example:

Battleship wiki 850shift 45 baud

The reason I mention this, is because I may try to leverage a cheapo MP3 player or something on the ship as there's no internet access there. Yes I can also do a "better" mp3 player with screen and all, but if I (or anyone) happens to be playing the files blind (let's really go out in left field and say even from a CD!), then the file has an audio header the describes what it is.

I guess another use case may be if the file name gets changed by accident per se too.

Just a thought!

Yes, Lots of potential with software! I have many ideas swimming in my
head. But I'll work with the easier ones. Sharing is encouraged!

For anyone with a 6 bit machine I just posted an mp3 afsk file for
testing at 6bit, 45.45 170 shift on 5bits.net. I assumed 45.45 but
couldn't find much more detail.

I can't fully decode 6 bit here but perhaps there is someone working on
a 6 bit machine from the newspaper publishing business. Let me know if
its successful pringting some upper and lower case RYRY...ryry...
