Why would this be? Do you mean that if you used the normal type box, you would need a mirror to read it? Do you know for a fact that there is a different type box that has reversed character such that it prints correctly?

I ask because back in the day, there was a device that would project an image of the tape on a large (rear projection?") display.  I wonder if it used tape printed in reverse for this to work correctly?

I tried to find information on this, and did find this in this manual..

Subject: [GreenKeys] Model 28 stock ticker type

So I discovered another problem.  I cannot simply rearrange the type in
the type box as the stock ticker uses a reversed font! Like the "B"
comes out with the rounded part to the left.

I have two choices:
1)  Find a 28 stock ticker-specific type box, or,
2)  Have the tape come out upside down and sort of be OK.  Not all
letters and numbers will work right because ideally this wants to print
in reverse and upside down and not all characters are symmetrical that way.

I think it's going to have to be the latter as these things are
exceedingly rare.

I have another problem which is probably due to lubrication and/or
adjustment.  I tried loading the first 4 positions of the type box with
space, A, B, and C then sending codes 0, 1, 2, 3 to print.  The code
bars move to the appropriate positions but all I got was spaces and
"A".  So something between the code bars and the movement of the type
block isn't moving freely.  While I think about what I'm going to do
with the type block I will look into the mechanical issue(s) behind this
mistyping.
