Did I read sometime back that some ribbon cartridge for another brand
printer worked in the 40 series Teletypes?

Why do I ask?  I found a box of Hyetype-II / Diablo / Xerox print
ribbons P/N 420287 / 301980-04 / 8R1650.

On a related topic I have a table that I believe was for the real heavy
Teletyp 40 band printer.
