Yes, it was apparently 6-level, but not obvious why, as there are only 64 slots in the type box.  Maybe the 6th bit was for LTRS/FIG shift, to speed things up?

When I moved to Wichita, KS another tech serviced the older box style tickers for commodities market. 
 
The Stock offices had Trans Lux or Trans Jet displays and I helped on the service of those.  
 
The old gents that hung around the Stock offices all day were helpful with diagnosing troubles.  I remember them wondering if the Dow Jones would ever get to 2000.
