It’s not just about removing it from the stand. Remember the entire typing unit is just sitting and not mounted at all. There are four screws that need to be added. I don’t have the documentation with me. But if you pick it up and even just shake it a little bit, you will move the internal parts relative to each other and potentially have the entirety of unit hop out of the little rubber cups  And I have had cases that was enough to shatter the entire case

Thanks for all the suggestions folks.
I'll take a toolkit with me to dismount it from the stand and remember to keep the ASR flat in the car.
I'll get some pictures and updates when I have the unit in my hands.

There are some great ASR33 restoration videos and blogs out there to read.

I'm a vintage computer enthusiast first and foremost so this unit will hopefully be connected to one of my 70's machines. Having said that I do also have a model 43 and an ex Royal Navy Siemens T1000 too.

Another thing, if you're picking it up, note that the printer assembly is often NOT bolted down inside, you need a shipping screw (hole inside in the center) to keep it all together, or if anything, unbolt it feom the stand and keep the unit flat.

Hi everyone,

I have finally managed to buy an ASR33 in the UK.
It's in a bit of sorry state as you can see from the Ebay listing here

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276831623016

It's going to take a lot of work to clean it up and I'll attempt to get it working over the next few weeks (I collect it on Thursday 6th February)

There are some parts obviously missing such as the front panel and local/remote select knob, platen knob etc.

There seems to be plenty of online video and reading material to support me but if you do have any suggestions or observations from these pictures, please let me know.

Thanks

Ian
