Is it not going into FIGS locally, meaning if its idle with no connection on itelex, and you hit figs then a number, it still shows letters?

If you have a tape punch, try punching a couple FIGS presses and see if the proper bits are punched; that'll tell you if its something in the printer or if its the keyboard/distributor. If the proper bits get punched then its a printer issue, if not, then its likely a keyboard or distributor issue (i'd start with cleaning distributor and wiper since you say it may have ran open for a bit).

I use my Teletype model 32 for I-Telex. Some months ago, my TW39 Telex board died and the teletype ran open. I’m not sure how long, but it was probably a rather long time.

I got a new board from Henning (thanks Henning, it works!)

But now the Teletype will not shift (into FIGS). It seems to stay in lower case (LTRS).

Any idea where I can look to find the mechanism that puts the machine in LTRS mode? The code bars are moving fine. I’m looking through the manual but I always have trouble translating the mechanical drawings that I see in these manuals to what I see physically in the machine. I’m currently looking at this manual:

I’ve not found the page yet that deals with my problem, and even if I did, as I said I struggle with these manuals. But at least it might put me in the right area.

I appreciate any help or guidance anyone can offer.

Thanks
