Aidan,
Make sure you read the manual for the HD3030. I think it's described in the build instructions. I haven't checked in a year personally.
I believe it can only be wired for RS232 or Current Loop not both and by trying to connect the loop pins with rs232 wiring set. It will blow a transistor.
Mine is nonfunctional and I have not gotten around to fixing it and rewiring it for loop.
I believe the loop circuit should not lose a load lest it will blow stuff too.
Others I'm sure have more experience however, and can give better input.
Thanks,
-Ian L.
Good morning all!______________________________________________________________I was hoping to get my station ready for the RTTY Roundup today, but I don't think I'll be making it in time. I'm having some issues trying to use a Heathkit HD 3030 to connect my model 19 to a Kenwood TS440 and I'm not sure if they stem from equipment issues or just improper connections.I've connected pins 12 and 13 to the AFSK IN and AFSK OUT on the Kenwood, selecting the FSK mode. I tuned into the ARRL RTTY bulletin last week and was unable to get the TU to detect the signal - neither mark nor space lit up on the display and the teletype connection did not move.I've also had issues with the connection for the model 19. When I turn the TU to "Send", it indicates Mark with the closed circuit but does not change to space when the circuit is opened.I'm not sure where to start with this and would appreciate any advice!73 and thanks,Aidan W9POG
