Here's how I spent Christmas! There is now an AFSK news feed available at
https://w6iwi.org/rtty/audio/nyt/ . It uses the New York Times NewsWire
API to pull the most recently published articles. The linked page has a
description of what's going on.
This is done with a series of PHP scripts resulting in an 8 bit sample,
8,000 sample per second WAV file.
I'm still chasing a few problems. They use a UTF-8 apostrophe instead of
an ASCII one. I have code to fix that, but it is not working. Maybe
tomorrow! Also, now and then stuff besides the article text ends up in the
feed. I still have to chase that down. But, here's a start.
