Another newbie question I suppose...

I've got my Model 26 hooked up to the FSK 500 and the "transmit" marks and spaces are showing up well.  Otherwise, it stays in Mark mode - even with the audio plugged in, the marks and spaces are not being picked up.

I have the ITTY feed playing through a cell phone plugged directly in.  Is there a need to amplify the input signal for the TU to pick up the frequencies, or should that direct plugging in suffice (of course, with reasonable volume from the phone)?  Otherwise I'm inclined to think that my TU is stuck in a "transmit" mode, even though it is configured to "receive" as per the documentation.
