Steve,

Welcome to the group & the would of TTYs!

I would look into the area of the selector magnet.  It sounds like maybe the armature is not dropping when a new character comes in.  Try increasing the spring bias on the armature.

I can't give  you any more specifics as I am mainly a Kleinschmidt guy (US Army TTY repairman), although I do maintain a few M15. M19, M28 for the AWA Museum.

Good luck & Have fun,

Hi All,

I am a new Model 15 owner, and am currently going through the machine trying to get it working to spec and receiving correctly. I have some spare parts already ordered from Paul @ RTTY Electronics, but have some issues I need some help with.

I have cleaned most of the bad grease and oil out of and off of the unit, I removed the main drive shaft last night, disassembled and cleaned everything and reinstalled in the machine but I am plagued by a problem. When running using the Mike Douglas converter and the itty stream, I get intermittent typing speeds when characters come through. It is steady for a few seconds and I get readable copy, but then it slows down and almost stalls (it was stalling and slipping the drive gear until I aligned the motor shaft and drive gears) I thought a good cleaning of the main drive shaft would help, but it still slows down and does not get good copy.

My question is: What else should I look to adjust? The army manual I received with this unit does not have a good troubleshooting section and is fairly hard to find stuff in (It helped me remove and rebuild the main shaft however!)

Could it be a bad motor, or is there an adjustment I am missing? Some torque setting or clearance somewhere?

Thanks in advance, I hope to get this unit up and running to use online with the itty feed and also with RTTY on the air.

Thanks!
Steve
