Forgot to add part of my main question; of course it would only come to me after I hit "Send" on the first e-mail...

Are there any particularly sensitive parts of the ST-5000 that could go awry in the hopefully unlikely event of poor shipping practice (packing and/or handling)?  This one's (understandably) got a hefty shipping price so I'm weighing that factor in, too.

Hi all,

I recently saw an ST-5000 up on eBay (should have looked sooner haha).  I had already previously ordered the IRL demodulator thanks to advice from you, but since this unit presumably contains the loop supply, then I assume that’s why it’s so sought after.

However, I’m sure there’s the gamble of whether or not it works as intended. To any ST-5000 owners: did you have to do any restoration on your unit when you first got it? What could be a common failing point or any other considerations for the unit? I still am deciding on how I want to design my loop supply if I stick with the IRL route as I have limited bench space, but just putting this out there - keeping an eye on if I might have been impulsive jumping onto the IRL unit or weighing if I will regret going for the HAL if I do haha.
