Hi Chuck. That ham rig probably automatically selects LSB for RTTY and SSB modes on 40m. So you may have to force it to USB somehow. If not, try 7091 LSB but the mark-space tones will be reversed. . In CW, you’d want to tune to 7089 and make the BFO -2000 Hz.
We run 7087 USB with a 2000+-425 Hz tone mark-low which is a military standard that matches the equipment we use.
Try listening Saturday morning at 0800 central time for our net. You should be able to hear us OK. From North Carolina I work Michigan, Vermont, and Florida OK.
Hello GK’s,
I do not have any working RTTY equipment, but am borrowing a HAM rig and I built small wire antenna to try to pick up your signals in the Chicagoland area. I’ve been listening on 7087.00 MHz USB from 3:00-3:20pm (now) but I haven’t heard anything.
Should I be able to pick up your signal from Chicago? Or are you too low powered? The rig has an RTTY button which I have pressed, but I also tried AM and SSB.
Just curious. Someday maybe I’ll have the equipment to give you a run for your money.
Chuck
