I learned to fly at Spirit of St. Louis airport in 1990.  The FSS was there and it was nice to go in there and get an "in person" weather briefing instead of doing it over the phone.  Of course, by then, CRT terminals had replaced the teletypes, but they still posted thermal fax weather charts on a bulletin board.  They also had some kind of color graphics terminals as well.  The whole place ended up under about 14 feet of water when the Missouri (and Mississippi) flooded in 1993.  After that, they rebuilt the place on top of concrete pillars, only to close it in 2007 after the whole system was privatized.  They vastly reduced the number of FSS facilities; the internet had made them obsolete.  I'm pretty sure you can still call 1-800-WX-BRIEF and get a briefing, but I can't remember the last time I did that.  I didn't know any of the folks in the pictures, but they brought back some neat memories.  Thanks for sharing that link.
