It's that time of year again where a spooky story is broadcast for your Halloween enjoyment, only this year is special.
In celebration of the fifth year this tradition has been running (and since last year's technical difficulties made it impossible for most people to copy the broadcast), this year I'll be broadcasting a total of five stories: two new stories (meant to
have debuted last year) preceded by the first three stories from 2019, 2020, and 2021, hence earning the title of BROADCASTAPALOOZA. This promises over five hours of pure TELETYTAINMENT.
The schedule will be as follows on October 31, times all in MDT:
13:00 - War of the Worlds - based on the infamous 1938 radio broadcast by Orson Welles
14:30 - I Am Legend - based on the novel by Richard Matheson
16:15 - Lunatic - an original space horror*
17:15 - Beelzebub the Bull - an original bloodcurdling bovine bulletin*
17:45 - Cain & Abel - an original terrifying tale of teletypery
(An asterisk indicates a story that includes an original pix at the end. No overstrike.)
Use the standard 2125 mark, 2295 space. If you're set up to use ITTY, you needn't change any of your configurations except to point to the following URL:
http://tty.nerdology.org:8080/halloween. Note that you'll see a 404 error at this URL until 15 - 30 minutes before the broadcast starts.
A brief test sequence will be sent promptly at the beginning of each story's scheduled time, followed by the story in earnest.
There will be a brief silence (5 - 10 minutes) after each story until the time the subsequent story is scheduled to begin.
Some of these stories originally included delays in between each message to add a sense of realism to the broadcast, as if the messages were being sent by the characters themselves as the events were unfolding. This time all messages within a given story
will be sent without any delay. What is sacrificed for that bit of realism will be gained in maximum convenience.
So be sure to tune in for a good ol' spooky time on Halloween!
