I have a Friden Flexowriter SFD. It has been working just fine for that last few years, yet lately it is giving me trouble. Recently I built a Friden to ASCII code converter using a Raspberry PI so that I could connect the Flexowriter to my DEC PDP8E. This was a fun project, but toward the end of it, this trouble started to show. The problem is that the keyboard occasionally locks out when typing and having the punch turned on. With the punch turned off this does not happen. The past few weeks I have been investigating the problem. There is a punch error that is basically paper tape related. To tight, out of tape hold down open etal. These can and will lockout the keyboard, but not the problem. I have checked a circuit called anti repeat which seems also to work correctly. Anyway, I not actually looking for help solving this problem, what I am looking for is some better documentation of my machine. I have a SFD schematic, it has dates of 1962 on it and also states for serial #32000 and more. Unfortunately, this schematic doesn't exactly match my machine. My machine has a serial number of a little more than 47000. So my Flexowriter must be later than 1962. I also have a few documents I found on bitsaver. These are good references and help with some of the basic ideas, but they are for models other than the SFD. I do have what looks like a owners manual for a SFD, but that only talks about how to use the machine. I'm looking for more pertinent documentation and schematics or someone to talk to about the flexowriter. Thanks for the help.
