That sounds great Skip.  It's been literally decades since I worked on these things and I"m afraid that my 72 year old brain isn't quite as sharp as it used to be.   I find that I can't remember how things go together like I used to.

That's one of the many reasons why I really enjoy being a member of this group.   When I read the mail each day (something I look forward to) I often draw a blank on what the folks are talking about but sometimes the old "lightbulb" goes off and I have an "ah ha" moment!

I also know that if I reach out, even with a dumb question that I should know, that there's always someone who will help with the answer.

So, yeah, let me know if you want to try a contact sometime....it would be fun.

Thanks for writing back Skip.

Hello Jim, well I am like you and miss the "old days" ..  Thats probably why I am spending a bunch of time getting my old 28 going and eventually want to get on HF to try and
make a few contacts..  Still working on rebuilding the old demodulator and UART circuit then try to get it all hooked up to the old Kenwood HF radio..
I was going to try AFSK as it seems thats the common way now but I still dont know how I am going to build that part.. Like I said before I might just tear into the old Kenwood 520 and
do it the old fashioned way again, FSK.. I dont know if we could work you all the way over to the Boston area but maybe on 20 meters when the band is good etc.. I havent been on HF much
as I have been concentrating on EME for the last 10 years or so.. So the RTTY thing will get me back on there hopefully..  When I get it all going I will give out a holler here and see who I can scare up
for a possible contact...  Stay tuned.. Skip

I too miss my RTTY days.   For me it was the 70's and 80's. I've had a
number of machines...28's, 19's, 32's...and one 33.   I still have 3
machines....

Sometimes I sit up around 14.085 +/- and call CQ.....but I generally
give up after a while.   I guess everyone or at least a lot of people
have gone to the more exotic modes.   Full disclosure:  I must admit
that I do enjoy a QSO on Olivia from time to time.....but I miss RTTY.

Wondering....anyone on here want to do a sked?   At the moment I'm good
on 20, 17 (does anyone EVER do RTTY on 17?), 15.....my SWR is high on 10
and I've not really been on 12 except for a couple of CW contacts.

Well, if you're thinking it might be fun and you want to give it a
try....let me know.   I'm pretty much retired, got a small business that
takes about 2 hours / day to run so I am pretty flexible on time.

I'm just South of Boston MA.....so if you're interested.   Let me know.
