Tom,

Not sure if I completely understand what you mean by 'what this is and is it useful for anything?', but I'll chime in anyway.

The Mite is a compact transportable TTY machine capable of full TX and RX RTTY.  They're kinda neat. Amazing how they engineered so much into such a compact unit. I had one set up in my Pinzgauer truck working full "off-the-grid" RTTY.

Subject: [GreenKeys] Newbie question on piece of gear.

I'm new to the list but not to RTTY. I've got a model 14 (because I like mechanical things - OK?) and a some Hal stuff like the ST-6 which I bought new and more lately a ST-6000.

In my poking around under the hamfest tables, I came across a Mite Corp AN/UGC-40 (CY-6063/UG) which appears to have a Navy tag on it. I was wondering just what this is and is it useful for anything? It makes the same great RTTY noise, just like I enjoy hearing in the background but I'm wondering if it has any function beyond making a great sound.

Any help greatly appreciated.
