I recently purchased a teletype which is a Anderson Jacobson model with an attached acoustic coupler to the call control center. I would like to note that this is my first time owning a teletype and that the machine is In surprisingly good condition, I think due to the fact it is a "portable" model which is completely housed in a large fiberglass caddy.
After pulling the cover and looking at the mechanism I moved the motor and codebars by hand to try and ensure that the mechanism is not jammed after cutting it on, though I found that in local mode the machine starts typing what seems to be random different letters. The carriage return also doesn't seem to be working, though I think I could figure out why If I gave it a closer look.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Richard
