Andy,

Look at the left side at the dashpot. You will see a vane held on by one screw. Adjust this vane to get the dashpot working correctly.

The carriage should stop with no bounce or banging when the carriage is all the way to the right and you hit a CR.

Perhaps the vane has fallen off on your 33 or you hit a CR after sliding the plunger and hitting a CR with the plunger out of initial alignment and the dashpot is twisted out of square.
