Follow up - I am testing this typing unit on an RO base - turns out that its local LF lever support bracket interferes with the reverse LF mechanism. I resolved that and now the quick brown fox jumps OVER the lazy dog, rather than under him,

I'm resurrecting a M28 printer that had very erratic line feed. Looking beneath I see some extra parts - aha - it has a reverse LF mechanism but with the 153241 cam link flopping about loose. Surely that needs a spring but there's no place to hook said spring. Finally figure out that the 153242 bracket has the spring mount broken off. No replacements here, so I fashion a spring mount and hook up a spring.
I remounted the printer to the base and now it line feeds perfectly every time - but they are all in reverse!
Back to the drawing board......
