I would say it depends on the signaling. If polar you would want negative and positive. But if normal (non-polar, I forget the name) the current is either zero or 60ma (or 20 or 30 depending)

I picked it up thinking it could make a nice meter for tty loops. But I wonder what its original purpose was. I would have thought something TTY related would be +/- 100mA not just 0-100mA
