30 was about the best I could do back in the day.  That was if I got the rhythm just right due to the fact that the keyboard is interlocked to prevent more than one key being depressed at the same time.  You'd have to be real darn good to get anywhere near to 60wpm.  The Teletype engineers just hadn't figured out N-key rollover for mechanical keyboards. (AFAIK)

A link would be welcome.   What typing was required of Teletype operators? Somewhere I got the idea that direct connected keyboards were limited to half the speed of the printer (true or not?).  Punches were not limited (same query).  Generally minimum speed for an office job was 60 WPM.

Subject: Re: [GreenKeys] Typing Instruction

I have a neat old book published by the Order of Railroad Telegraphers - "Teletype and Typewriter Keyboard Operation". It has 26 teletype typing exercises and a section covering how to read a tape.

Another discussion here has evoked a question. Did Teletype or Kleinschmidt encourage or require any of their employees  to take typing instruction? Did anyone create a stunt box feature and instructional tapes for typing practise?
