First of all, many many thanks to Jordan, Tom, and Tom/Paul who make the streams that keep our machines exercised. You are heroes for battling the software demons/daemons to provide beautiful music in 7.42 time.
There was a joke in television engineering that NTSC stood for “Never Twice the Same Color”. For software, I think that’s “Never Twice the Same Code”. With few exceptions, whatever you think you are doing (setting bit rate, etc) is really just making a suggestion to some quivering masses of code that *might* eventually cause the desired action.
I understand the dedication/obsession it takes to finally get something running and the frustration when the quivering mass shifts beneath your feet. I’m glad that you do that work so that people like me can print stories/news/pix/etc.
I spent decades designing very complex hardware and getting very complex software to work with it, so I am happy to retire from that battle and enjoy dealing with the relative tranquility of the madly thrashing levers and gears of a Model 28.
Thanks again to our streamer heroes.
Nick
