If you package each component separately, then you get there.  Perhaps Jim H can provide more light, but in the early days of the model 28 (and prior), you'd order sets by the component parts.  E. g.  A cabinet, a keyboard, a typing unit and electrical service unit.  Then add any other accessories to that like side mount copy holder, paper winder etc.

Add mil spec packing and you really get more weight.  I have a LMU3 in the garage that is mil spec packed.  Just for giggles, I ought to go get it and weight it to see how much the packaging adds.
