Well it was an interesting morning.
Nick England and I messed around with some old technology and new technology mixed together. We both setup to receive SDRs on our respective side of the country (Nick using an SDR out of Utah and I was using one in Pennsylvania)
In the early morning Utah was too close for him to copy me due to propagation but as the sun rose on the west he could pick me up. We both patched the SDRs into our vintage Teletype gear and had a nice QSO. (Transmitting using HR radios and Receiving via SDRs) Next step is to be able to retransmit on the fly to be able to participate in the respective nets on each coast. That will require a paper tape punch and retransmit at the same time. All a very cool mix of old and new tech.
