"Yes" Gmail "Does that"
And it is annoying. You will never receive a copy of your own post.
I get the non digest version.
The way I check that my post went thru is to check my work email (it is also signed up to greenkeys)
Or check the Archives as Nick suggested.

I am not sure what you mean by echo (Does gmail really do that?  I never use gmail).  Here is how GK works:

- If you are NOT on digest, and you post to GK, it goes to the list (everyone), including your email if your "nomail" flag is not set.  That is not a local echo, it is GK sending your post to you.  If I set the GK "nomail" flag, you will not get posts returned.  This is handy if you want a second post-only address to use.

- If you ARE on digest, you will not get your post returned immediately, but will get the digest sometime in the next 24 hours or so.  This is what digest mode does.  Also, digest members are on moderation so I can catch the two big digest problems:  not changing the subject line, and not trimming out the unrelated posts in the digest reply.  I check for moderation stuff every morning, so your post will be delayed up to a day (it won't be in the archive until it is approved either).  If you don't like the delay, I can take you off digest/moderation.  I would be happy if we did not have a digest mode, but some folks like it, so I moderate it to keep the archive clean.

- If you post from a non-subscribed address, it bounces to me.  I will look at the post and if it is tty-related, just send it on to the list.  Quite a few times this is someone with a machine available, or other short-term conversation.  Sometimes it is someone who really should subscribe as a new member and after I let a few posts through they think they are subscribed but are not getting posts and need to be added.

thx, gil

I have greenkeys sent to my work email also, because of Gmail and that Echo thing. That way I know

Gabriel - Both of your messages were received here from the list.
You can always check the archives to see if you had success.

Some mailers don't allow echoed messages back to the poster - I don't receive messages I post to greenkeys from my gmail account. It is Gmail's fault - a very stupid policy IMHO
.
I set my greenkeys account to acknowledge posts because Gmail will let the acknowledgement (but not the original) come back to me. So I know that something made it.

And you can always check the archives to see if you had success.

Good luck!

Dear Editor of Green Keys

I have tried sending my posting copie below from
both of my email addresses: <mail@gabrielegan.com>
and <gegan@dmu.ac.uk> From either, the message
seems not to make it to the list. Any idea
why not?

Gabriel
